Areas of Research
The Vienna University of Economics and Business promotes a multidisciplinary understanding of the economy. This mission is particularly endorsed by the Department of Socioeconomics, which differs from all other departments in that it is not dominated by any discipline but as such interdisciplinary in orientation. In this diverse environment, the Institute for Sociology and Social Research lays special emphasis on the development and application of social theoretical perspectives and the adaptation and refinement of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Enriching the economic orientation of the WU Vienna, our substantive focus is on the social dimension of the economy. This includes topical questions in the fields of politics and economics, work and consumption, and organisations (for profit as well as non-profit). More information on the Institute’s areas of research is available in the adjacent links.
