Georg Kanitsar is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute for Sociology and Social Research at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Before joining WU, we was at the Institute of Economic Sociology at the University of Vienna. Georg Kanitsar studied sociology and economics at the University of Vienna (with study and research stays in Amsterdam and Zurich). His doctoral thesis dealt with an experimental inquiry into the relationship between punishment and solidarity.
His research interests include economic sociology, analytical sociology, cooperation and trust, solidarity and morality, and the application of experimental methods in the social sciences. His most recent publication is Solidarity Through Punishment. An Experiment on the Merits of Centralized Enforcement in Generalized Exchange (Social Science Research, Vol 78).
Georg Kanitsar supervises Bachelor’s theses and teaches courses on economic sociology and empirical research methods.
