The field of social policy deals with the general theoretical foundations of social policy, above all with three fields of research. For each of these research lines, a number of different questions are examined, which are answered with the help of a broad spectrum of social and economic theories and using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods
The Institute for Social Policy in the field of "Health and Care" addresses both theoretically and empirically selected issues, in particular the structures and developments in health and long-term care systems, distribution issues, the importance of cross-border mobility in health care and the role of health care European Union.
Several research projects of the Institute for Social Policy deal with issues of poverty and social exclusion and thus with problem areas that also provide information about the effectiveness of the prevailing social system.
Social services play an important role in the provision of social services to disadvantaged groups and are at the same time an essential economic factor. Often, a particular vulnerability of the addressees, information deficiencies and special market structures can be assumed.
