ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy

The ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy was founded in 2013 with the goal of strengthening the civil society sector in Central and South-Eastern Europe by providing further educational opportunities. The Academy offers a range of high-quality capacity building programmes designed specifically for executive managers and staff members of NGOs. By transferring knowledge, imparting skills and helping participants to build up networks, the Academy supports the organisations themselves, and, indirectly, also their beneficiaries.

The ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy comprises of two programmes. Both are implemented in cooperation with the Competence Centre for Nonprofit Organisations and Social Entrepreneurship of Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna): the Social Innovation and Management Programme and the Regional Programme.

Both programmes focus on the further development of management competences and address a huge variety of topics related to them.

They are clustered into four categories:
  • Resources & Innovation: it includes topics related to the various resources an organisation uses and depends on and their acquisition, as well as innovation management as a mean to create, identify and introduce new resources into existing systems (eg. fundraising, community involvement, innovation management, social entrepreneurship, design thinking, etc.)

  • Planning & Implementation: this category addresses topics related to skills necessary in the daily work of an organisation, as well as in the implementation of new projects (eg. marketing, social media, project planning, etc.)

  • Sustaining Success: it comprises topics relevant to the successful management of an organisation, internally and towards external stakeholders (eg. leadership, impact measurement, proposal writing, etc.)

  • Local Focus: this category focuses on topics relevant to organisations due to the local context they are operating in, such as a specific country or its specific status towards the EU, as well as soft skills that might vary depending on the cultural frame (eg. EU funds, negotiations, CSR partnerships, etc.).

Participation in the programmes is granted to partner organisations of ERSTE Foundation, by invitation only.
