Double Degree

In recent years, WU has developed Double Degree Programs in cooperation with four renowned universities in the EU, Russia, North America, and Australia.

Double Degree Programs take two years to complete. Incoming Double Degree students spend the first year at their home university and the second year at WU. To become an incoming Double Degree student at WU, you need to be nominated for the program by your home university. If your application is successful, your home university will notify us of your nomination. We will then contact you with more information about your stay at WU.

After successfully completing the program, participants are awarded two academic degrees.

Organizational support for the exchange period at WU is provided by the home university, the International Office at WU, and the WU master’s programs.

How can I find appropriate housing in Vienna?

Incoming Double Degree students can apply for a place in a student residence hall provided by the OeAD (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research), look for accommodation online on the Housing Anywhere platform, or seek private accommodation. Pre-semester activities

As a Double Degree student, you can participate in WU’s Orientation and Cultural Program and/or pre-semester German language courses. These activities take place in February and September and start a few weeks before the beginning of the semester. They are intended to familiarize Double Degree and exchange students with Austrian culture and life in Vienna. The language courses provide an opportunity to learn some basic German or to refresh existing German skills.

Working in Austria

Sound German skills (minimum level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) are a requirement for working life in Austria. We strongly recommend to attend a German language course prior and/or during your studies at WU. The WU ZBP Career Center supports students and graduates in entering professional life and forms an interface between university and labor market. More information on working in Austria is available here.

Confirmation of foreign academic achievement

After successful completion of your classes from the first year of your studies (see curriculum), please make sure that your transcript from your home university is sent to your coordinator at WU’s International Office. You will receive a final grade based on your grade average (weighted according to your credits), which will be displayed on your WU transcript for the subject “Double Degree Studies”. The International Office will arrange for your grade to be entered into the system.
