Please note that you can only use the reading area if you have reserved a time slot in the online calendar, with no exceptions. Reservations can be made on this page under Online Reservation (see below).

Who can reserve a seat?

Only WU students and registered external library patrons may reserve a seat.

Which rules apply for reserving a seat?

  • You may have up to 3 active reservations. If you already have 3 reservations active, no new reservation can be made until another expires or is cancelled.

  • Seats may be booked up to 7 days in advance.

  • To make your reservation, please log in with your WU account or your library account, select your time slot, and confirm the reservation.

  • You will receive a confirmation email when you make a reservation.

  • Please keep this confirmation and your WU student ID or your library card ready. It is not necessary to print this confirmation. You can present it in digital form.

  • If a library user shows signs of being unwell, library staff may deny this person access to the study areas.

  • The University Library reserves the right to cancel reservations. In the event that your reservation is cancelled, we will notify you by email.

COVID-19 hygiene and safety requirements

WU buildings - entrance requirements (tested, vaccinated, or recovered)

WU buildings may only be entered if the entrance requirements (tested, vaccinated, or recovered) are met. One of the following proofs must be presented to enter and remain in WU buildings.

Starting August 15, a vaccination is only valid for entrance at WU if the immunization is complete, i.e. from the day of the 2nd vaccination. This does not apply to vaccines with only one dose. These are accepted for entrance from the 22nd day after the vaccination. The regulations for those who have recovered and those who have been tested remain unchanged.

When do I have to wear a mouth and nose protector?
  • When entering the library building until reaching your study place (incl. group workrooms and carrels).

  • When leaving your study place.

  • When collecting books at the library front desk.

  • When a library card is issued at the library front desk.

This applies to all 3 library branches (Central Library, Library for Law, Library for Social Sciences).

To make your visit to the WU Library as safe as possible, we will be closing the libraries for disinfection and ventilation over lunchtime.
