WU Library & Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

07/02/2023

Many of the things we offer to make the library an enjoyable and nice place to learn and work also support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Goal 3: Good health and well-being

Besides our drinking fountains, you will find a variety of learning zones in the library. These are designed to meet different learning needs (quiet work, communicative zone, assistive technology room).

Goal 4: Quality education

One of the main tasks of the library is, of course, to provide the necessary specialized information and literature. Our team includes specialists from all areas of the university library who will advise and support you in library use, research, reference management, and much more.

Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production &
Goal 13: Climate action

Many of our measures (scanners instead of copiers, light regulation, sun protection, water bottle filling station) are aimed at saving resources or using them wisely. Since the production of books also requires resources, we do not throw them away when they are no longer needed in the library, but pass them on. Offers such as interlibrary loan and document delivery help to ensure that a book or journal does not always have to be purchased anew, but can be “shared” between several libraries.
