Hermann Frank is head of the Research Institute for Family Business and an associate professor at the Institute for Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. After finishing his habilitation he was offered a chair for entrepreneurship at the University of Dortmund, Germany, and was ranked first for a chair for Innovation Management at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). In 1996 he was a visiting professor at the University of Halmstad, Sweden, and in 2000 at the University of Udine, Italy. From 2000 to 2006 he taught entrepreneurship at Krems University (Professional MBA). Before joining academia, he gained practical experience in the textile industry and still maintains an intensive exchange of experiences with practitioners, and in particular with leading Austrian family firms. He is also a member of the editorial board of Entrepreneurship and Regional Development as well as the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development. Since winterterm 12/13 he is visiting professor for Family Business Management at Private University Witten/Herdecke, Germany.
For his research, Herman Frank received the Rudolf Salinger Award and several WU awards for excellence in research and publication.
Member of the FGF (Förderkreis Gründungs-Forschung) executive committee. Member of the IFERA (International Family Enterprise Research Academy) board.
