Tobias Knoll, Dr.
In his research, Tobias Knoll focuses on inter-organizational cooperative agreements and how firms can utilize them to strengthen their competitive positions.
Tobias rejoined the Institute for Strategic Management in October 2015 and is responsible for leading academic projects in the field of strategic alliance management. To facilitate the knowledge exchange between ISM and practitioners, he is responsible for organizing the yearly “Aufsichtsratstag”, a conference targeted towards members of supervisory boards, as well as the “Working Group on Strategic Alliances”, a biannually exchange forum with alliance managers in Austria and Germany, co-organized with FU Berlin.
As a lecturer, Tobias teaches both the International Strategic Management Course I and II, as part of the bachelor's program “Cross Functional Management”. Furthermore, he is also active in teaching at international partner universities, with recent appointments being Kingston, Ontario (graduate level) and Cape Town (Executive MBA level).
Tobias obtained a doctorate in Strategic Management as well as a master’s degree in Strategy, Innovation and Management Control (SIMC).
Besides conducting practice-oriented research in the field of strategic management, he is holding a senior consultant position at Contrast EY-Parthenon, supporting clients in defining and executing strategic initiatives.
