Guest Talk: From IoT to Process Improvement: Use-Case of a Boston Hospital

Abstract 

In this talk we'll take a guided tour along the life cycle of data, star­ting with sensor data, through data manage­ment and culmi­na­ting in collec­ting insights from data. This tour uses data from a Boston's cancer insti­tute and illus­trates the bene­fits of process mining for analy­zing time-­de­pen­dent data.

Bio 

Avigdor Gal is a Professor at the Tech­nion -- Israel Insti­tute of Tech­no­logy. His rese­arch focuses on effec­tive methods of inte­gra­ting data from multiple and diverse sources, which affect the way busi­nesses and consu­mers seek infor­ma­tion over the Internet. Prof. Gal has published about 150 papers in leading profes­sional jour­nals, confe­rences, and books. He serves in various edito­rial capa­ci­ties for peri­o­di­cals and has helped orga­nize profes­sional work­shops and confe­rences (e.g., BPM and DEBS) nearly every year since 1998.
