Fact Sheet: Everything you need to know about the new SBWL Decision Sciences

1. How is the SBWL Decision Sciences structured?
5 mandatory courses: Game Theory I (Course I), Psychology I (Course II), Empirical Data Analysis (Course III), as well as 2 courses selected from either Game Theory II (Course IV or V), Psychology II (Course IV or V), Project/Advanced Course (Course V) (typically either Game Theory II + Project/ Advanced or Psychology II + Project/ Advanced.)
2. When is the enrolment period for the courses I to V?
We have two enrollment phases:
Phase 1 for courses I, II and III is from September 14th to September 17th 2023 (for the winter term 2023/24): These courses are mandatory.

♦ Empirical Data Analysis
Phase 2 for courses IV and Vis mid of November 2023.
♦ Project Course (course V)
♦ Psychology II (course IV or V)
♦ Game Theory II (course IV or V)
IMPORTANT: Please be aware that you have to be registered for course I to III in order to register for the Project course (V).
What do I have to do in order to apply for the SBWL?
If you fit the criteria explained here, you first have to register for Access to Specialization: Decision Sciences: Game Theory, Psychology, and Data Analysis in LPIS.
Then you have to apply via LEARN by completing the application form and uploading your CV, your performance record and your motivational letter.

The application period at LPIS starts on August 23rd at 14:00 and ends on August 27th, 2023.
The application period via LEARN starts as well on August 28th at 14:00 and ends on September 1st at 11:59 AM.Where can I apply for the winter term 2023/24?
Please register for the course Access to Specialization: Decision Sciences: Game Theory, Psychology, and Data Analysis via LPIS and

We will ask you to describe how you would use strategic thinking (game theory), psychology, and data analysis to solve a specific problem.When will I find out if I am accepted for the SBWL?
For the winter term 2023/24, you will be informed by September 11th, 2023 at the latest.When will the Kick-off Event for the summer term 20223 take place?
The mandatory Kick-off Event will take place on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 12pm to 3pm at D5.
This is a three hour event which will give you a chance to learn more about the contents of the courses, get to know the lecturers as well as the other students and ask questions if you have any.What are the preconditions for non BBE- Students?

If you plan to take the Project Course (always course V) you must complete Course I, Course II AND Course III first, then as course IV you can choose between Game Theory II and Psychology IIIf you plan to not take the Project Course, you can choose to Game Theory II as your Course IV and Psychology II as Course V OR the other way around
Please note before you can enroll in the Project Course, you have to complete Course I, Course II AND Course III
It is possible to both take Game Theory I and Game Theory II AND Psychology I and Psychology II in the same semesterWhat happens if I decline the offer to take the SBWL?
If we accept you for the SBWL and you decide not to take part in the upcoming semester, but you would like to take part in the following year, please note that you have to go through the entire application process again.How many students apply for spots in the SBWL?
Application numbers vary each semester, but on average we receive about three times as many applications, i.e. 150+.How many spots do we offer in our SWBL?
We are currently admitting 50 students per semester.What do I have to purchase for the SBWL lectures?
We do not require you to buy textbooks, but strongly recommend you install R (which is free).How long does it take to finish the SBWL?
Of those students who completed the SBWL Strategy and Data, about 40% completed it within one semester, 40% within 2 semesters, and 15% within 3 semesters. Only 5% need 4 or more semesters.
