How is the new SBWL Decision Sciences structured?

3 mandatory courses: Game theory I, Psychology I, Data analysis

3 courses from which 2 have to be chosen: Game theory II, Psychology II, Project/Advanced course

(We expect students will typically choose either Game theory II+Project/Advanced or Psychology II+Project/Advanced.)

Can I transfer from the old SBWL to the new one?

We offer all students in the SBWL Strategy and Data the opportunity to transfer to the SBWL Decision Sciences, if they wish. If they do, their already completed courses will be transferred as follows:

Strategy I -> Game theory I

Data I -> no transfer

Strategy II -> Game theory II

Data II -> Data analysis

Project course -> Project/Advanced course

You can find more information about this here.

I have already taken Data I, what should I do?

As becomes clear from above, the course Data I in the SBWL Strategy and Data cannot be transferred to the new SBWL Decision Sciences.

If you have already completed Data I, you can just complete the SBWL Strategy and Data as planned, or you can switch in which case Data I would not be counted for the new SBWL or as a free elective. (You would still keep the ECTS points)

In order to ease the switch for those who would like to switch, in this term we allow you to enrol in the Data II course (which can be transferred) without having taken Data I.

What do I have to do in order to switch to the new SBWL?

If you would like to switch to the new SBWL, we ask you to tell us by 23 January 2022 by emailing us (ims@wu.ac.at).

What happens if I decline the offer to take the SBWL?

If we accept you for the SBWL and you decide not to take it in the upcoming semester, but you would like to take it in the following year, please note that you have to go through the entire application process again - including taking the entry exam.

How many students apply for spots at the SBWL?
