11/10/2022

Symposium on “Leading and Misleading” at Rennes School of Business, inaugural event of the research programme “Organising Towards or Against Extinction? Past, Present and Future” on December 5th and 6th 2022.

On December 5th and 6th 2022, the Centre for Unframed Thinking (CUT) at Rennes School of Business (France) will hold the first out of three symposia in the research programme “Organising Towards or Against Extinction? Past, Present and Future”. Dr. Sonja Sperber, Assistant Professor at the Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization, has been invited by the organisers Prof. Sarah Robinson, Prof. Marco Michelotti and Prof. Julia Roloff to participate in this series. In the first symposium, focusing on “Leading and Misleading: What’s Wrong with Management and Organisation Knowledge”, she will present on The Gender Data Gap in Organizational Knowledge: Background, Implications and Possible Solutions.

Overall, this interdisciplinary programme aims to explore how human organising can support the future development of sustainable organisational systems, advancing the future of humanity in addressing present and future grand challenges. Drawing on sociology, anthropology, philosophy, political science, social activism, as well as business and organisation studies, the three events will consist of interdisciplinary dialogues, debates and presentations between and by theorists, researchers, strategists, practitioners and activists, focusing on organising past, present and future respectively. In the first symposium in December 2022, it will be explored how prevailing studies and theories of organisation have been complicit not only in the development of unstainable business practices and behaviours, but also in excluding alternative theoretical paradigms, negatively affecting efforts to develop (alternative) ideas.
