Introductory phase for all majors
The e-learning supported course Fundamentals of Economics is held in the introductory phase of the degree programs. The objectives of this course is to learn to apply formal concepts and theory-based argumentation. To this end, the Department recommends attending the courses "flagged" especially for economics students.
Courses in the so-called common body of knowledge (CBK) in the majors Business Administration, International Business Administration and Information Systems include Applied Microeconomics, International Macroeconomics and Economic and Financial Policy. In these courses, the skills and knowledge gained in the basic course are reinforced and broadened to include new applications.
Electives (4 weekly hours each) from the field of economics are also available in the majors Business Administration and International Business Administration:

Phase II in the Economics & Social Sciences major
This major allows students to specialize in economics after completion of the introductory phase. The courses in the field of economics offered in this major are more advanced than the CBK courses. The program is characterized by the wide variety of issues addressed and methods used, as well as by the Department's practical, policy-oriented approach.
Courses held by the Department in this major consist of a contribution to the Economics and Social Sciences program held in cooperation with other academic units in Phase II of the degree programs (year 2 of the degree program) and a specific program for the Economics track in the third year of the degree program.
