Demography Group

The Demography Group aims to better understand the role of “Human Capital” – the human resource base in terms of the number of people and their changing structure by age, gender, location, education, health status, cognitive skills and other relevant characteristics that help with the production of human wellbeing.

The Demography Group is part of the Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital (IIASA, VID/ÖAW, WU) together with the World Population Program of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (VID/ÖAW). The Centre was founded in 2010.

This cooperation combines the partners’ strengths in the fields of demography, human capital formation and analysis of the returns to education. The aim is to constitute an international leading Centre in the mentioned fields. [deutsche Übersetzung]
