In Vienna, parents can choose between private or public institutions for childcare. The official registration period for a place in a public kindergarten is in November or December, a year in advance.
WU Kindergarten: Located directly on Campus WU and open to children of WU staff and students, aged 1 to 6 years. Kindergarten opening hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm, including university break periods.
Schools
Austria has a compulsory education system. All children who live in Austria have to attend school for a minimum of nine years. Compulsory schooling starts on September 1 following the child’s 6th birthday.
