WU’s Impact on Society
WU sees itself not only as a place of research and teaching, but also as a place for exchanging knowledge and ideas with the public. Campus WU is open to everyone. WU’s public events are very popular, and engagement with the business community and society is a priority for the university.
WU faces up to its historical responsibility
In addition to the return of library books identified as looted property, the research of expelled WU staff* and students is at the center of its activities on Nazi history. Two WU alumni stand out for their particular commitment to fighting Holocaust oblivion.
Combating discrimination
Even though discrimination is banned under international, European, and national legislation, it still occurs in everyday life. As a public educational institution, WU places particular importance on providing a work and study environment that ensures equality for all of its students and employees.
