Short Biography

Dr. Sabrina Kirrane is an assistant professor working at both the Institute for Management Information Systems and the Institute of Information Business at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Sabrina’s PhD, which she completed at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at the National University of Ireland Galway, focused on the problem of access control for the Web of Data. The overarching goal of her PhD thesis was to provide a set of access control strategies that, together with the existing Web of Data infrastructure, can be used to support eBusiness on top of interlinked machine-readable data. Sabrina’s current research focuses on privacy implications associated with the publishing, interlinking and reasoning over personal information. She is particularly interested in the multidisciplinary nature of privacy preservation that spans the humanities, social sciences, information technology, security and legal domains.

Prior to moving to academia she worked in a number of software engineering roles, involved in the architecture, analysis, implementation and deployment of enterprise solutions.
