Birgit Fordinal is a research associate (post doc) at the Institute for Data, Process and Knowledge Management. She obtained her PhD at the University of Vienna and in her dissertation dealt with the question of the design of interaction processes in coaching, counseling and therapy and the role of implicit forms of knowledge in enabling interaction.

Birgit Fordinal completed a master's degree in cultural and social anthropology at the University of Vienna and a postgraduate master's degree in personnel and organizational development at the Danube University Krems. In her master's thesis she examined talent coaching as a method within vision development of systems.

In addition to her scientific work (2008 to 2014 research and teaching associate at the Institute for Information Business at the Vienna University of Economics and Business), Birgit Fordinal works as a systemic coach, facilitator and trainer. She gained experience in the HR department of an international corporation and most recently as Chief Relations Officer of an online platform for consultants and coaches.

She is currently doing research in the field of knowledge management at the interface between theory and practice, focusing on the topics of personal and organizational learning and change.
