In view of the multidisciplinary research orientation, the Institute has been engaged in the development of internationally vibrant research networks in the regional science field.

Moreover, the considerable efforts made by the Institute in the International Geographical Union's Commissions on Mathematical Models and on Geographical Systems are worth mentioning in this context.
