After you have fulfilled all the requirements of the degree program and the grading protocol of your Bachelor's paper has reached the Teaching Coordination and Examinations Office, you can announce your completion of studies via the WU Webservices.
Important note regarding the Bachelor program of Economic and Social Sciences:
Please request your leaving certificate only when all courses and examinations of all specialist areas you want to complete show on your Consolidated Grade Record.
After you have announced your completion of studies, you cannot enrol in the same degree program again in order to complete more specialist areas!
You are notified as soon as your documents (leaving certificate, conferral of degree and Diploma Supplement) are ready for collection in the Teaching Coordination and Examinations Office, usually within four weeks of announcement of completion of studies.
After completing your studies, you have the opportunity to register for a graduation ceremony.
When collecting your certificates from the Teaching Coordination and Examinations Office, you have to bring the following documents with you:
your WU student ID or a photo identification
the confirmation that you completed the data entry form "UStat 2" about semesters spent abroad
In addition, we would ask you to fill in the questionnaire for alumni and hand it in at the Teaching Coordination and Examinations Office.
Academic degree
After completing the Bachelor program in Economic and Social Sciences, the academic degree Bachelor of Science (WU), abbreviated as BSc (WU), is conferred.
On alumni of the Bachelor program in Business Law, the academic degree Bachelor of Laws (WU), abbreviated as LL.B. (WU), is conferred.
The successful completion of a Bachelor program is the prerequisite for being able to enrol in a Master program in Austria or abroad. Registering for a Doctoral or PhD program is only possible after having completed a Master program.

There is a possibility to temporarily withhold access to a thesis.

After completing the diploma program, the academic degree Magistra/Magister rerum socialium oeconomicarumque, abbreviated as Mag. rer. soc. oec., is conferred.

Conferral of degree
On alumni, the academic degree “Doktor/in der Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften” (doctoral program in Social and Economic Sciences) or "Doktor/in der Rechtswissenschaften" (doctoral program in Business Law) is conferred; after completing the PhD program, the academic title "Doctor of Philosophy" (PhD) is conferred. The Vicerector (Academic programs and student affairs) confers the academic title after positive completion of all courses and examinations prescribed by the degree program and after submission of the positive assessment of the doctoral thesis.
The administrative decision must be collected in person (or by a person to whom you have granted power of attorney).

Graduation ceremony
Participation in an official graduation ceremony is not required, as the academic title is already conferred at collection of the administrative decision. If you wish to participate in a graduation ceremony, you have to pay a fee of € 77.50 to cover administrative expenses. The fee is payable by bank transfer form or with your automatic teller card (Bankomat) in the Teaching Coordination and Examinations Office.
Academic ceremonies take place three times a year.

The graduation ceremonies are held in the Ceremonial Hall (Festsaal) of the WU (1st floor, sectors A and B). Please accompany your guests to the Hall before joining your fellow graduates for the ceremony.
