The doctorate program of the Institute for Statistics and Mathematics is part of the economics and social science doctorate program of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The Institute is dedicated to excellence in quantitative and formal methods, focusing on application driven innovations, as well as on innovative applications of methods. Both conceptual and computational competence are represented.
Doctorate students are highly motivated seeking to gather scientific qualification.
The dissertation advisor in conjunction with the faculty of the Institute will play a central role in guiding the candidate through the core area as well as related fields of research. Preliminary results obtained by the students are summarized in research papers and presented at conferences. The regular attendance of the research seminars at the Institute will help to broaden the expertise and work out the main conclusions of the dissertation.
