The
doctorial program has an overall length of three years and is divided
into distinct stages of study. During the first stage students will
take courses in the areas of Philosophy of Science, and Quantitative
and Qualitative Research Methods. Students who achieve exceptional
distinction in their course work will be invited to prepare a doctoral
dissertation proposal that includes the identification of a topic,
discussion of the topical and methodological issues of the field in
which the dissertation will be pursued, and where appropriate, an
identification of the data resources to be uses or developed. The
proposal will also identify further areas of informal and formal study
to be pursued in the course of dissertation research and writing.
