Financial Times Global Masters in Management Ranking 2011: WU moves up six places

WU did remarkably well in this year’s Financial Times Global Masters in Management ranking, improving its position by six places. WU’s International Business Administration program is currently ranked at 18th place out of 65 excellent schools, making it one of the top 20 study programs offered by international business and economics universities.

This puts WU in the same league as schools like Mannheim Business School, ESADE in Barcelona, the London School of Economics and Political Science und the Stockholm School of Economics. CEMS (The Global Alliance in Management Education) was ranked 2nd place. This is particularly good news for WU, as the elite, top-ranked European CEMS MIM degree program is available in Austria exclusively at WU. The Swiss university St. Gallen took 1st place this year.

Excellent results despite difficult conditions

“We are very pleased to have further improved our position in this year’s ranking, and that we can continue to number ourselves among Europe’s top universities“, says proud WU Rector Christoph Badelt. “Our main goal is to give our graduates the tools they need for a successful professional career.  We are extremely proud of the fact that we can offer internationally competitive programs,” says Badelt, and adds, “The excellent position in this ranking is sensational, as WU is competing against universities that regulate admissions. Despite difficult conditions at Austrian universities, WU has a very good place in the ranking and is currently at a very competitive level. “

International Business Administration: languages, study abroad, career chances

Moving up six places in the ranking demonstrates that the International Business Administration program is continually being optimized and remains internationally successful. 98% of graduates find employment within three months after graduation. Graduates praise the high degree of target achievement. WU’s foreign language programs are a further advantage of the program, as well as the international environment and the opportunities to gain international experience. Career mobility has increased as a result, and graduates have better career perspectives in larger companies.

WU worldwide among the best business schools

Barbara Sporn, Vice Rector for Research, International Affairs and External Relations, is also delighted with this year’s result: “An improvement of six places is a remarkable success for WU. We are among the best business schools worldwide. The fact that we could further advance our position this year is proof that our constant efforts to improve our current programs are having a distinctly positive effect. Our graduates have outstanding qualifications and the best of chances on the job market both in Austria and abroad”, she says.
