WU signs 1st Double Degree Program with Top North American Business School

During a formal ceremony last week, the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) concluded its first double degree agreement with a North American university. The Canadian Queens School of Business is one of North America’s top-ranked  universities, with excellent academic and executive education programs (Canada’s number 1 MBA provider), as well as numerous accreditations. Starting this fall, WU students will have the opportunity to obtain a degree from both universities, WU and the Queens School of Business. Double degree alumni benefit from international experience, are well-suited for positions in multinational companies, and are therefore in great demand on the international job market.

WU’s first joint degree program, the MSc Program in International Management/CEMS, has been available since 2009. A further double degree agreement for the Strategy, Innovation and Management Control (SIMC) program was signed with the prestigious St. Petersburg State University last fall. Starting this October, SIMC students can also obtain a graduate degree at the Queens School of Business in Canada.

International networking and practical experience

“Double degree programs combine the strengths of the participating partner universities. WU is an attractive partner for many leading international universities”, says WU Rector Christoph Badelt, who signed the agreement together with his Canadian counterpart, Dean David Saunders. The advantages for students are more than obvious for Badelt: “Our double degree participants have the opportunity to study at top universities and gain extensive international experience. Along the way they learn foreign language and intercultural skills. This additional training and the double degree make graduates particularly interesting for the international job market”. With the formal signing of this agreement, WU now provides a total of three double degree programs.
