New Rector's Council

University Board elects new Rector’s Council of the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU)


The University Board elected the future Rector’s Council unanimously, confirming the proposal made by Christoph Badelt, who was already re-elected as Rector in November 2010. As of October 1, 2011, the following members will join the Rector’s Council: WU Professors Edith Littich, Michael Meyer and Barbara Sporn, as well as the former BAWAG P.S.K. General Manager Regina Prehofer. Regina Prehofer will be responsible for the agenda of the Vice-Rector of Infrastructure as well as for the WU new campus project.

Besides Rector Christoph Badelt, the new Rector’s Council consists of: 

- Edith Littich (46): Vice-Rector for Academic Programs and Student Affairs
The Professor of Economics is currently at the Institute for Finance, Banking and Insurance (Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics) in the field of “Financial Education and Operation Research and Non-profit Funding”.

- Michael Meyer (47): Vice-Rector for Human Resources
The University Professor for Business Administration is currently Head of the Department of Nonprofit Management at the WU, the professional MBA program for Social Management of the WU Executive Academy and is the deputy director of the Competence Center for Nonprofit Organizations, which was established in January 2011. 

- Regina Prehofer (54): Vice-Rector for Finance and Infrastructure
The former BAWAG P.S.K General Manager studied Commerce at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and Law at the University of Vienna. Regina Prehofer will be responsible for the agenda of Infrastructure starting May 1st. From October on, she will also be in charge of Finance.

- Univ. Prof. Dr. Barbara Sporn (47): Vice-Rector for Research, International Affairs and External Relations
The WU Professor of Higher Education Management at the Department of Strategic Management and Innovation has been a member of the Rector’s Council since 2002. Barbara Sporn has been responsible for the agenda of Research, International Affairs and External Relations since 2003.
