In January 2005 the research programme project orientation [international] has been started by the PMG. Objectives of this programme were, to analyse and benchmark about 250 project-oriented companies of about 10 nations on the basis of ROLAND GAREIS Management of the project-oriented company® . 7 countries have participated in the research programme. The participation as a project-oriented company or as a project-oriented nation or region is still possible.

In September 2007 the research project "Pilot: Sectorial Process & Project Management" has been started by the PMG. The main objective of this project is to develop sector specific standards in process and project management for the sectors ICT, R&D, hospitals and SMEs.
