The workload of the academic program is quite heavy. In addition to the pre-course assignment, students are expected to spend about 20 - 25 hours per week on projects and assignments outside the classroom.
Please note that every course will require students to complete a pre-course assignment before the start of the program in Vienna. Information on this assignment will be sent directly to participants.
In order to grade participants according to their performance and issue a certificate, attendance at all sessions of the courses is compulsory.
The actual grading method is up to the lecturer of the course. Please refer to the course outlines for instructors' assessment methods. Usually the following methods are used:
pre-course assignment
class participation
individual and/or group assignments
homework
written reports
oral presentations
exams
Students receive the following marks based on the Austrian grading system:
1 = Excellent
2 = Good
3 = Satisfactory
4 = Sufficient
5 = Fail
Participants who complete the course program will receive a certificate from the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) stating the courses and their assessed performance. Students from the Bachelor-level Program will receive separate grades for the Intensive Course and the Enrichment Course; participants of the Master-level Program will receive a separate grade for each one of the three courses.
The certificate will be given to participants of the ISU WU at the Official Closing Ceremony. Please note that no certificates will be given to students who failed a course or missed classes without a leave of absence.If universities require a transcript to be sent to the student's home institution directly, a duplicate of the transcript can be sent. Please contact the ISU WU coordinator before the start of the program.
Every participant receives a certificate from the WU after having completed all necessary course work. The academic transcript lists all course titles, as well as the ECTS credits earned and the final grade.
Please note that each institution has its own policy regarding credit transfer from other institutions. Hence, we strongly recommend that students consult with their home university prior to enrolling in the ISU WU. It is up to the student's home university whether the credits earned at WU can be accredited.
