ERASMUS Teaching Assignments

Within the ERASMUS teaching assignments, faculty members have the opportunity to teach at European WU partner universities for a short term (maximum period of six weeks) and to professionally and personally benefit from these teaching assignments. During their stay abroad, guest lecturers should, preferably, be integrated into the regular teaching program of the host university. Here you will find information about following topics:

Aims of ERASMUS faculty exchanges

  • Strengthening of relationships between ERASMUS universities, developing and maintaining contact between colleagues,
  • Exchanging and gaining professional expertise and experience concerning educational methods,
  • A side effect of teaching stays abroad is often to build up a network and to engage in the preparation and planning of potential collaborations with ERASMUS partners, such as intensive programs or projects for the development of joint teaching initiatives,
  • Giving students who do not participate in an exchange program the possibility to benefit from the expertise of faculty members from different European universities and engage students at the host university in an international classroom setting (supporting "internationalization at home"),
  • Teaching stays abroad can always be used to meet and assist any ERASMUS students who spend their exchange term at the host university of the lecturers.

The Erasmus Teaching Assignments were a major impulse for Faculty Mobility. WU provides faculty members with the opportunity to teach at one of over 100 ERASMUS partner universities in Western Europe, as well as in Central and Eastern Europe.

ERASMUS Incoming Faculty

Each year WU welcomes many international lecturers from ERASMUS partner institutions to teach a course at WU. Currently WU has agreements for faculty exchanges with around 100 European institutions. If WU holds such a bilateral agreement with the incoming faculty´s home institution, lecturers can apply for a ERASMUS faculty mobility grant at their home institution. Lecturers should be aware that any specific conditions set out by the lecturer´s home institutions will apply to them.

In all non-academic matters incoming faculty is supported by the WU Welcome Center. More information about the WU Welcome Center is available here.

ERASMUS teaching assignments at WU can be made in various programs. An overview of all options available for incoming faculty can be found at the WU websites for incoming academic staff.
