Prof. Puck and his assistants (Heidenreich, Hödl, Pregernig, Raupp, Scherer, Wisgickl) regularly publish a list of topics on the IIB website which are currently available to work on in a bachelor, master, or diploma thesis. Twice a semester, an assignment date will be held where the institute members outline their topics and answer upcoming questions. This appointment also constitutes a binding assignment of the theses. Personal attendance at this meeting is obligatory for interested students. Topics cannot be reserved in advance. Furthermore, students are obliged to bring the “application form” to the meeting. We recommend to pass the course “Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten“ before applying for a thesis, however, it is not obligatory. Date and place of assignment, as well as the available topics, are announced at this site in time.
--- The next assignment date: 20.06.2012 l 10h-12h l Kolpinghaus HS X ---
If you want to suggest your own topic for your thesis, you have to contact a potential supervisor at least three weeks before the assignment date. In the case that your suggested topic fits into the Institute`s research interest, it will be recorded on our list and published on the website whereas the application procedure remains the same as explained above.
Within four weeks after the thesis
assignment, an exposé has
to be handed in to the supervisor. Based on the quality of your exposé,
the final decision on supervising will
be taken.
Submission of your final thesis
Your final thesis has to be uploaded at Learn@WU. In addition, you have to send your supervisor the “Beurteilungsprotokoll” with your personal details. The documents can be downloaded here. Furthermore, one hardcopy of your thesis needs to be handed in at our institute. Please ensure that your thesis is complete and includes the “Deckblatt” signed by you. "Examiner" of your thesis is always Prof. Puck. The hardcopy has to be completely identical to your electronically uploaded version.
Please inform yourselves about necessary documents and administrative issues regarding the completion of your studies at WU. More information can be found e.g., here and here.
