“What if local practices deviate from local values? The impact of cultural inconsistencies in countries on inward MNE activity”

Arjen Slangen obtained his Ph.D. from Tilburg University in 2005 and is currently an associate professor of
International Business at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. His research focuses on the institutional determinants of foreign entry mode choices and multinational activity. Arjen's research has been published in leading international journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Management Studies. He currently serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Management Studies and Journal of World Business, among others.

37th EIBA Annual Conference

IIB members presented current research and participated at the EIBA Conference in Bucharest. Former IIB colleague Dr. Lisa Gärber was awarded the Gunnar Hedlund Award for the best PhD thesis in the world in the field of International Business.

AIB MENA 2012: Best Paper Award in International Business

Stefan Heidenreich and Jonas Puck have recently participated at the AIB MENA 2012 conference in Dubai and presented their paper

“Entrepreneurial overconfidence in a foreign direct investment: Evidence from a failed venture in Ghana”.

It was awarded as the best paper in international business.

Excursion to the BMW AG in Munich

As part of the „Project Seminar with BMW“ students visited the BMW AG in Munich on November 22nd. Besides presenting their interim results to representatives of BMW at the BMW head office, students had the possibilities to visit the BMW World and participate in a guided tour through the BMW museum. Many thanks to BMW for a very interesting day in Munich!

Prof. Jorma Larimo holding a lecture on the internationalization of firms in CEE. Bachelor Students and our visiting guest from Vaasa, Finland, are currently discussing important issues, chances and risks of internationalizing to this - for Austrian firms very important - region.

Next Tuesday, 29.11. Jorma Larimo (University of Vaasa) will hold a guest lecture on the internationalization, FDI behavior and performance in CEE. Students also have the chance to present their bachelor theses and will get input and feedback on their projects.
