“I’m something of a wanderer between academic worlds,”
says Michael Müller-Camen, who has worked in teaching and research at numerous
universities in Germany, England and Austria. Currently, he is a Professor of
International Human Resource Management (HRM) at Middlesex University in London.
He sees his new position at WU as an opportunity to conduct top-level
international research in close cooperation with the business community.
He was
previously involved in an EU research project on the Austrian human resource
management model, and is presently focusing on the field of sustainable human
resource management. This includes corporate social responsibility, green HRM
and generation management, says Müller-Camen. WU plays a leading role
internationally in this innovative research area, which is also of great
practical relevance for strategic personnel management in Austria’s businesses,
for the development of the social partnership, and for the work satisfaction,
health and motivation of employees everywhere. “25 years ago, I decided to
study business and economics because I wanted to make a positive contribution
to society. This position at WU and my research in sustainable human resource
management will provide me with numerous opportunities to do that,” says Müller-Camen.
