Jan Mendling

Professor of Information Systems and Business Engineering, Department of Information Systems & Operations

Jan Mendling took up the position of Professor of Information Systems and Business Engineering at the Department of Information Systems and Operations on August 1, 2011. Mendling studied business information systems in Trier and Antwerp, and worked at WU during his doctoral studies. After completing a year as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, he was offered a Junior Professorship for Information Systems at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Prof. Mendling is pleased to be able to return to WU. “WU has an excellent working environment where I can investigate the effects of new technologies on business processes and examine the basic foundations that these systems require“, he says. Mendling has close contacts to Eindhoven University of Technology, Queensland University of Technology, and the Hasso Plattner Institute Potsdam, which he hopes to strengthen and expand at WU. His research focuses mainly on topics related to process management and process modeling.
