Dr. Beer (ext. 4073) was born in Vienna in 1969. He received his Mag.rer.soc.oec. degree in 1991 and his Dr.rer.soc.oec degree in 1995, both from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. He started, but broke off, a couple of other studies on the side (translation, law).

He has always focused on the U.S. in general, and American English and anything to do with Disney in particular (which can also be seen from the fact that he wrote his doctoral dissertation on Corporate Communication and Corporate Language at Walt Disney World, which was published in 1996).

Dr. Beer's main research areas include corporate communication, corporate language, Disney(his strictly academic interest in this field is corroborated by frequent visits to Walt Disney World), and U.S. studies. He is also the academic advisor for the WU's exchange programs with the University of Wisconsin - Madison  as well as the University of Miami.

As a result of his focus on the U.S., Dr. Beer currently gives a lecture on down-to-earth cultural studies (Life in Britain and the U.S., together with Dr. Herles, who is responsible for the British part) and a lecture on International Marketing. In addition, he currently teaches several seminars and English Business Communication III. Rumors have it he makes the NY Times redundant when it comes to information about the U.S.
