The
Institute’s mission is to make a full contribution to the excellence of
research and teaching at the WU, based on the understanding of English
business communication as an integral part of economic structures and
business processes.
We therefore aim to help
students become versatile, confident users of English who are at home
with specialized business terminology and command the wide range of
communicative skills that executives need in today’s global business
environment. At the same time, we are committed to the production of
high-quality applied research into contemporary English, maintaining
theoretical and methodological diversity, but with a clear focus on the
language of business and economics.
In order to achieve these goals:
Simultaneously, we are responsive to the demands of the corporate, public and nonprofit sectors for training and consultancy in business communication. In providing services to such outside clients, we will combine practical relevance and efficient delivery with scholarly independence and the highest academic standards.
