IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SEMINARS in WS2009/10

If you qualify for a seminar this semester (i.e., completed Wiko 4) and already have registered for a seminar or are planning to do so: as we are facing capacity constraints (which accounts for the very limited choice of seminar slots still available now), we would like to offer those of you who could put off doing the seminar until next semester (SS2010) the opportunity to receive a slot in a seminar of your choice next semester. Interested? If so, contact Dr. Beer (beer@wu.ac.at) for details. Again, this offer is extended to those students who have passed Wiko 4 (no later than at the 2nd FT on Oct 8) and would otherwise do the seminar this semester.

Bachelor program

NOTE: Registration for any and all of our classes is done exclusively via LPIS - lecturers cannot and will not accept any requests for registration outside the system; please also read the statement below. Also, for any of our courses: If you have registered for a course, but will not need the slot, after all, please deregister to make it available to other students.

If you have registered for EBC3 or EBC4 and have NOT passed EBC2 (and are not taking the exceptional EBC2 test during exam week), please deregister again to make slots available for those who fulfill the requirements.

Fremdsprachliche Wirtschaftskommunikation I/II (EBC 1/2) (Bachelor program)

EBC 2 / Exam 26.01.2010 / 08:00

Auffrischungskurs (# 2308) This class is designed for students who intend to take English on one of the two Bachelor programs, and who feel that their general English skills and knowledge may not be up to the required level, viz. a pass in the Austrian Matura.

Please note: In order to register for an EBC 2 course, you must have passed EBC 1 at the end of the preceding semester at the latest.

Fremdsprachliche Wirtschaftskommunikation III (EBC 3) (Bachelor program)

EBC 3 / Exams 26.01.2010 / 08:00

Second Final Test: EBC3

As long as there are slots available in any of our EBC3 courses, we cannot add more slots to existing courses, as we have already reached numbers that are barely acceptable for reasonable teaching and learning efforts. Also, once we have all results from EBC2, those students who are registered for EBC3 but have not passed EBC2 will be deregistered (see below), which will result in those slots becoming available again.

As always, all students who fulfill the criteria will get a slot in ONE of the EBC3 courses, but there cannot be a guarantee for a PARTICULAR course.

Please remember that having passed EBC 1 and EBC 2 is a prerequisite for this course, which will be checked at the beginning of the semester; registrations without the necessary requirements will have to be deleted. Also, bear in mind that you can take EBC 3 and EBC 4 in the same semester, even though we do recommend you take them in order.

Fremdsprachliche Wirtschaftskommunikation IV (EBC 4) (Bachelor program)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You MUST register for the EBC 4 course to be able to take the exam at the end of the semester in which you register. Please see general info on EBC 4 below. (Thus, if you do not register in WS09, the earliest you can take the exam is June 2010, following the next summer semester.)

Additional slots will be added when and if all available slots have been filled; please remember these are oral exams, which is why there has to be an upper limit to the number of students allowed into each course.

INFO ON AVAILABILITY OF SLOTS IN OUR COURSES
We make every effort to provide a sufficient number of slots to all students fulfilling the requirements for the respective courses. Please bear in mind that we need to schedule far in excess of 100 different classes to accommodate literally thousands of students each semester (this is currently complicated further by the need to offer courses for Diplom as well as Bachelor students). You must understand that planning and administering our classes is done MANUALLY - in effect, this means that, even though in the end all students will almost certainly get a slot in a required class (even if not in their top preferences), it may sometimes take some time for us to react to the development in demand and adjust our classes accordingly. Traditionally, every student has been offered a slot in a required class - but we do hope it is obvious that we simply cannot accommodate individual timetables.
