The Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration is one of the leading institutions for education and research in CEE-related matters. The following range of CEE study programs are offered at the university:

JOSZEF Program

Target group

Regular WU students and exchange students from the 22 partner universities in CEE

Program type

Additional qualification with an emphasis on CEE management, in-depth business administration studies, German and an East European language

Duration

1 academic year + mandatory internship, to be completed for the duration of 1-3 months with one of the JOSZEF corporate partners

Admission

Advanced stage of study at home university, good grades, good command of the German language for incoming students.

The innovative JOSZEF-Program provides Central and Eastern European students with access to additional education at the WU, and gives WU students the chance to enhance to acquire “CEE competence”. It is an additional support program, which was designed in collaboration with corporate partners in order to nurture highly qualified students as prospective managers.

JOSZEF participants receive a JOSZEF-Certificate once they have successfully completed both the JOSZEF-Program and the degrees at their respective home universities. WU students are furthermore required to have completed a range of special courses on CEE at the WU, as well as a semester and an internship abroad prior to receiving the JOSZEF certificate.

"Master Class: Eastern Europe"

Advanced studies, excellent grades, good command of the English language and basic knowledge of an East European language, first working experience in CEE

The Master Class: Eastern Europe is an additional qualification program, which can be completed in 2 semesters. It is designed to prepare future managers for their CEE-oriented tasks with a theoretical foundation as well as with practical experiences. The program is organized by the Competence Center for CEE. Successful participants are issued a Master Class diploma.

Completed 1. diploma exam, 6 courses of 2."Abschnitt", Command of the Russian or Czech language (completed WIKO II course)


This program is an integrated part of the regular WU curriculum for graduate students of international business. It is not a core specialization.
The program comprises both international business and Slavic languages.

Good command of the English language and an interest in CEE-related business studies


The program is a unique CEE-experience at the WU. It covers the issues of EU enlargement, cross cultural transfer of management knowledge and marketing strategies for CEE. In this 2-week-course, students will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also round it up with practical case-studies and excursions to corporations operating in CEE.
