Quality development in research |
|
WU has developed a number of interrelated and complementary measures to promote quality development in research. Research assessment designed to fulfill international standards is one central component. From 2008 to 2014, the research activities of all departments will be evaluated using a combination of self-assessment and peer review by an external expert. The WU-Journal-Rating sets quality standards for research, based on the ratings of internationally respected top journals. Annual activity reports evaluate the performance of the university’s scientists in research, teaching and self-management. These activity reports are also a key element of our annual employee reviews. The WU also promotes excellence in research through financial incentives and awards (such as bonuses for top journal articles, the WU Best Paper Award for the best WU publication from the past year and the Stephan Koren Prize for the best dissertation each year). The WU internal research sponsorship program is designed to provide financial incentive to advance quality in research and encourage important networking with the international scientific community. Research sponsorship is divided into four categories (promoting research through financial support, promoting research through internationalization, promoting junior faculty, and promoting individual projects). |
